VMTurbo rounds up $10M VC funding
Waltham's VMTurbo, a maker of software for automatically virtualizing computer workloads, said today it's raised $10 million in a Series B venture capital round from two Boston area firms.

VKernel bought by Quest Software
Virtualization software company VKernel Inc. was acquired earlier this week by California company Quest Software Inc. for an undisclosed amount, according to a blog post on the VKernel website and a release from Quest.

Viewfinity bumps funding round to $5M

Grasshopper phone service, down since Tuesday, now back up
The Boston-based virtual phone service company Grasshopper Group LLC had an outage of its service beginning Tuesday afternoon, but as of midnight the service was still back up and functioning stably for "an hour," according to the company's own support site.

EMC's VMware acquires Shavlik Technologies
VMware Inc., the California-based virtualization infrastructure arm of Hopkinton's EMC Corp. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Shavlik Technologies, a cloud-based IT management software provider, according to a press release by Shavlik.

EMC sets records in Q1 numbers
EMC Corp.’s quarterly net income rose 28 percent on the strength of an 18-percent increase in revenue in the first quarter of 2011, the company reported this morning. The Hopkinton storage giant set records on both lines of its operating statement, with $4.6 billion in consolidated revenue, and $477.1 million in GAAP net income.

NetApp closes $60M buyout of Akorri Networks
The price paid for Akorri Networks Inc. of Littleton by California giant NetApp Inc. has been revealed to be $60 million now that the deal has closed. Akorri raised just under $60 million from investors since its 2005 launch.

Dimdim Inc. of Lowell has been acquired by San Francisco-based Salesforce.com in a cash deal worth $31 million. Enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce said it was interested in Dimdim’s completely cloud-based real-time communication technology.
