Ipswitch File Transfer taps former Akamai exec
By Don Seiffert, Correspondent
Rich Kennelly, former vice president of the media business unit at Akamai Technology, has been named president of Ipswitch File Transfer’s file transfer division, the company announced today.
The Lexington-based provider of high-performance secure managed file transfer, electronic data interchange and business-to-business data gateway solutions said Kennelly will oversee engineering, product management, global sales and services, and operations for the unit.
Prior to Ipswitch, Kennelly spent nine years in senior leadership roles at Akamai Technologies. Previously, he was a founding member of ImagineLAN, Inc., a startup innovating in network and system diagnostics, and a key engineering leader at New Oak Communications. Before Akamai, Kennelly was a founding member of ImagineLAN, Inc., a startup and an engineering leader at New Oak Communications, which was credited with creating one of the industry’s first VPN switches.
“Businesses transfer more digital information than ever before,” said Roger Greene, Ipswitch CEO. “Rich’s background in products and services, communications and software, and his knowledge of Internet and cloud based offerings ensures Ipswitch will remain a market leader in File Transfer, and continue to bring innovative solutions to market.”
The longtime Bay State software maker and 2010 Tech Citizenship honoree acquired Wisconsin software maker Standard Networks Inc. in 2008.
