Germany’s A-tune lands U.S. HQ in Cambridge

By Patricia Resende, Correspondent

A-tune Software AG, a German software development company, is branching out with a new office at One Mifflin Place in Cambridge’s Harvard Square and has hired medical industry research veteran J. Patrick Guider Jr. as general manager of its North American operations.

The new division, A-tune Software Inc., was launched so that the company could be closer to the company’s existing customers in North America and to create potential relationships with new clients in the area of biotechnology, pharmaceutical and government, according to the company. The effort is to further market its tick@ and tick@lab web applications, which help companies manage medical research facilities with a specific focus on meeting compliance with federal regulations. Some of a-tune’s existing partners include Microsoft Corp., Oracle and Citrix Systems Inc.

Two people will be housed at the Cambridge office with another joining the company in March, Guider told Mass High Tech.

Guider, who has worked in the industry for nearly 30 years, said a-tune’s leadership team is committed to the U.S. market and to building its international relationships.

“Our organization sees North America as a strategic and significant market for our medical research software applications,” Guider said. “ With the increase in medical research studies we know that our products will assist our clients to maintaining compliance with regulatory authorities while increasing efficiencies within their research facilities.”
