Rich media marketing company Zmags Inc. has named Hugh Merryweather as the Boston company’s new CFO.
Merryweather most recently served as global CFO and head of new business development at concierge services provider Circles, according to a release from Zmags. He held that position since 2001, and joined the company in 2000 to help it land a Series D round of financing. Circles was acquired by concierge giant Sodexo in 2007.
Before joining Circles, Merryweather was the executive director at edu.com and director of partnerships for Fidelity Investments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Amherst College and a joint MBA/master’s degree in accounting from Northeastern University.
Zmags has seen a number of changes in the executive suit in the past 12 months. In May 2011, Zmags named Michael Schreck, a former partner at General Catalyst Partners, as president and CEO of the Boston rich media marketing software firm. He took over the role from co-founder Jens Karstoft, who holds the vice president of strategic innovation role.
In August, Zmags named W. Sean Ford as chief operating officer and chief marketing officer. Ford is a former Oracle Corp. vice president, having served as VP of global business unit marketing and VP of global retail marketing for the company. December saw Zmags land $7 million in a debt funding round, which was made up of $5 million in debt funding from new investor Square One Capital and $2 million from the company’s existing investors – OpenView Venture Partners and Northcap Partners.
