CasePick Systems, a robotics and supply chain company in Wilmington, has emerged from stealth mode with a rebranding as Symbotic LLC, and a new website to boot.
The company, founded in 2007, is developing automation technology with a focus on low cost, but increased storage capacity, handling throughput rate and volume, Symbotic said in a news release.
The company brought on board former Netezza Corp. CEO Jim Baum to take the helm at then-named CasePick Systems, which was operating as a stealthy robotics firm at the time.
In October 2010, the company sought a patent for a handling system that included track-guided transfer and transport vehicles, which automate the picking of orders at the case and item level in an automated full-service retail store. The U.S. patent named John Lert Jr., of Quincy, as the sole inventor.
