Jumptap taps Yahoo! vet Hammond as CTO

By Michelle Lang

Jumptap Inc., a mobile advertising network in Cambridge, has brought on board a new chief technology officer in Bob Hammond, a veteran of Yahoo! and online ad network Vibrant Media.

Hammond will be responsible for growing the company’s mobile audience targeting platform. In the past, he served as senior vice president of engineering at video ad network Maven, which was acquired in 2008 by Yahoo!, where he went on to serve as VP of engineering. At Yahoo!, he headed up engineering for the company’s Video Platform and Syndication Group, which managed Maven’s products, as well as core product development, technical documentation, quality assurance and user interface design.

Jumptap provides a mobile advertising platform aimed at helping subscribers find mobile-centric information on their cell phones, and carriers generate traffic. The company announced last May that it had closed on a $25 million funding round that it planned to use to further develop its products and technology, while adding to staff.  That funding came from existing investors AllianceBernstein, General Catalyst, Redpoint Ventures, Summerhill Ventures, Valhalla Partners and WPP, along with new investors that weren’t named.
