By Rodney H. Brown

Virtual High School Global Consortium, a Maynard-based provider of K-12 online learning and course design for teachers, has named Mark Bucceri to the new position of chief learning officer.

Bucceri, in his new role, will be responsible for Virtual High School’s Curriculum & Instruction and Technology departments. According to a release, most recently Bucceri served as a principal education specialist for Saba Software in Lexington, and as an instructional designer for Sybase, a division of SAP. He has also held roles as a contributing editor for the book “The New Virtual Classroom: Evidence-Based Guidelines for Synchronous Learning” (Pfeiffer, 2007).

The Littleton resident has a master’s of education in instructional design from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and math from Boston College.

At the same time, VHS named John Englander as the new director of Curriculum & Instruction. Englander previously worked as the associate director for online learning at Facing History and Ourselves, an international educational and professional development non-profit organization in Brookline. Previously, he was a designer for VIS Corp. and Big Mind Media. Englander received a bachelor’s degree in English from Yale University and lives in Acton.

Virtual High School was born out of a partnership between Hudson Public Schools and the Concord Consortium. In 2006, it celebrated its 10-year anniversary
