LiveWire lands $1.47M in debt financing

By Rodney Brown

Littleton mobile services company LiveWire Mobile Inc. has pulled in $1.47 million in a debt financing round, according to an SEC filing by the company.

The documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission do not identify the five backers on the debt funding round. LiveWire Mobile is a public company, traded on the Pink Sheets under the ticker symbol “LVWR.” Listed as related persons in the SEC filing are executives and board members of the company.

Live Wire acquired U.K. mobile content supplier FoneStarz Media Group Ltd. in December 2010 for an undisclosed amount. That purchase grew LiveWire’s offerings to include ringtones, music, video, application distribution, ringback, images and games.  It also broadened LiveWire’s customer reach to more than 400 million subscribers in almost 30 countries with more than 40 mobile operators. At the time, LiveWire CEO and President Matthew Stecker said that the new employees from the FoneStarz purchase brought the company head count to about 92.

Launched in 2004, LiveWire was originally based on Framingham-based NMS Communications Corp.’s ringback service. In December of 2009, the company held a one-for-ten reverse stock split in a move to increase the value of the stock and attract investors.  The company was unable to be reached this morning.
