Nanigans Inc., the Boston advertising platform startup, is growing west and opening a new San Francisco office.
With its focus on the Facebook Ads API, Nanigans will have a closer geographical tie to Palo Alto, Calif.-based Facebook. The move also brings the company closer to Redwood City, Calif.-located Electronic Arts Inc., a social games company with whom it partnered recently.
Founded in 2008, Nanigans took in $3 million in its first funding round in August, led by Avalon Ventures, which has offices both in Cambridge and La Jolla, Calif. The financing also included unnamed Boston-based angel investors. As part of the round, Nanigans added to its board Avalon Ventures Managing Director Rich Levandov, who is an early backer of Facebook game studio Zynga Inc.
Nanigans announced in November, in a release that coincided with a Boston recruiting visit by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, that the company delivered 80 billion ad impressions on Facebook in the third quarter of 2011, which put the company on par with companies like Canada’s AdParlor, which was acquired by Kansas City’s Adknowledge Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
Nanigans, a 40-employee company, markets its ad platform to gaming, retail, media, entertainment and the advertising industries.
