Waltham-based Forerun Inc., a developer of electronic charting software for emergency department physicians, has agreed to acquire Arlington, Texas company Emergisoft for an undisclosed amount.
In a release issued today, Forerun said that it would buy the assets of Emergisoft, including “customer contracts, product rights, software and services, and other property rights.” As part of the deal, Emergisoft CEO Jordan Davis will become vice president of sales ay Forerun, and Emergisoft CTO Godson Menezes will become Forerun’s director of operations. The facility in Arlington will be kept open as regional development, operation and a customer support center, according to the release.
Founded in 1990, Emergisoft is also in the Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) space, offering both software tools and clinical expertise. For its part, Forerun, founded in 2006, uses software developed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center that the company calls FlexChart.
In April, Forerun closed a $2 million Series C funding round, led by Massachusetts Technology Development Corp. (MTDC) and including new backer Michael B. Kaufman, managing partner of KBT Partners, as well as other unnamed investors. The company raised a Series B funding round in August 2008 of about $1.4 million, also from the MTDC and other investors.
