VMTurbo rounds up $10M VC funding
By Kyle Alspach, Boston Business Journal
Waltham’s VMTurbo, a maker of software for automatically virtualizing computer workloads, said today it’s raised $10 million in a Series B venture capital round from two Boston area firms.
The financing included Bain Capital Ventures of Boston and Highland Capital Partners of Lexington, both returning investors. VMTurbo was founded in 2009 and had previously raised $7.5 million in VC, CEO Lou Shipley said in a Boston Business Journal interview earlier this month.
While a rapidly growing number of companies are moving their workloads into cloud-based, virtual environments, much of the required work is still manual, Shipley said.
VMTurbo offers a way to automate many of the decisions involved with moving to the cloud, he said.
Customers include cloud service providers and enterprises such as British Telecom, Omnicare and L-3 Communications.
VMTurbo said it plans to use the funding to expand its product development, customer support, sales and marketing.
