Veracode names former Iron Mountain chief Brennan as CEO
By Rodney H. Brown
A few months after adding a top former federal security official to its board, Veracode Inc. has tapped Iron Mountain Inc. veteran Bob Brennan as its new CEO, the company noted in a release.
Brennan stepped down as CEO, president and director of Iron Mountain in April, positions he held since 2008. At Veracode, he replaces founder Maria Cirino, who has been serving as “interim” CEO since previous CEO Matt Moynihan left earlier this year. Cirino, a 2001 Mass High Tech All-Star, is also a founder of one of Veracode’s investors, .406 Ventures LLC, which on Monday raised $95 million of a planned $175 million second fund.
Other investors in Veracode have included Cambridge’s Atlas Venture and Polaris Venture Partners. Corporate investors include Symantec Corp. and Macrovision Corp. Cirino will remain on the board of directors at Veracode, the release said.
Brennan came to his previous company Iron Mountain from its acquisition of Framingham enterprise PC data protection company Connected Corp., which Iron Mountain bought in 2004 for $117 million in cash. Brennan served as CEO and chairman of Connected.
In June, Veracode added former national coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism Richard A. Clarke to its board of directors. Clarke, former special advisor for cyber security to President George W. Bush, is current chairman and CEO of Good Harbor Consulting. Veracode, founded in 2006, said at the time that Clarke would help it expand further into the government sector.
