Humedica bumps latest financing to $23M

By Rodney H. Brown

Humedica Inc., a health informatics company, has boosted its recent funding round from $20 million to $23 million, according to federal documents filed with the SEC.

Two new investors have joined the Humedica roster of investors since the $20 million tranche was filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in April. Now at 11 investors instead of the previous nine, the filing doesn’t identify any of them by name. Listed as related persons in both filings are directors William J. Geary of North Bridge Venture Partners, Hemant Taneja of General Catalyst Partners, Jeffrey A. Leerink of Leerink Swann, and James Nahirny of Bain Capital Ventures.

Those four investors were also participants in Boston-based Humedica’s 2008 financing that brought in $30 million. The company makes health analytics tools for hospitals, physician practices and life sciences companies that aggregate raw health data.

The new funding tranche brings the total VC investment in Humedica to approximately $53 million. Founded in 2008, the company officially launched in 2009. A call to Humedica officials was not immediately returned.
