Solos donating part of MammoView sales to fight breast cancer

By Rodney H. Brown

Boston-based medical devices company Solos Endoscopy Inc. has committed to donating five percent of all sales from its MammoView Breast Endoscopy Instrument line during the month of October to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the company said in a release.

Solos (OTCPK: SNDY) sells product in the MammoView line – which contains 13 different breast endoscopy components – to hospitals through direct sales channels and social media, the company said. The system is designed to use microendoscopes that are inserted into the milk ducts and provide direct observation of potential cancerous cells through a video system. The milk ducts in the breast are where the majority of breast cancers begin, the company noted.

In August, Solos reported it had reduced its debt by more than $620,000 for the period ending Sept. 30, 2011, through a settlement agreement and a new consulting agreement. Solos noted at the time that the two agreements will yield a reduction of ongoing expenses of $60,000 per quarter.

Solos announced in June it was adding a veterinary products unit for its endoscopic equipment, scopes and instruments. According to Solos, the Veterinary Product Line will be made up of more than 48 items “with prices ranging from $75 to $3,900.”
