Attunity gets $3.5M OEM deal payment from Microsoft

By Rodney H. Brown

Microsoft Corp. has delivered a payment of $3.55 million to Attunity Ltd., one month earlier than the Burlington data software company anticipated.

The payment stems from a 2008 OEM agreement between Attunity (OTC: ATTUF.OB) and Microsoft, in which Attunity would supply the software giant with data connectivity software adapters for iterations of SQL Server. That five-year, worldwide agreement covered resellers, developers and distributors of the SQL Server software.

According to a release from Attunity, the payment stems from the delivery to Microsoft of Change-Data-Capture (CDC) and Open-Data-Base-Connectivity (ODBC) components. Officials said in the release that they did not expect the payment to come through until November.

Earlier this month, Attunity paid $7.8 million to buy RepliWeb Inc., a file replication and file transfer technology firm in Coconut Creek, Fla. The acquisition was expected to boost Attunity’s replication software offerings for enterprise data centers and cloud computing and grow its customer base.

Attunity was born in Israel but lists its U.S. headquarters as Burlington. Among its strategic and OEM partners are Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM Corp., Oracle Corp., Business Objects Inc. and Cognos Inc.
