Startup Watch: Five you should follow

As part of each week’s Startup Report, Mass High Tech highlights five startup companies and their business goals and provides guest access to their company profiles in the New England Tech Directory. With each week’s Startup Watch, Mass High Tech will choose the weekly featured companies by soliciting nominations through a poll of 10 startup companies, with links to their respective websites.

Brightstar Solar:  Founded in 2009, Boston-based Brightstar Solar handles photovoltaic installations for residential and commercial solar power customers.

eCurv Inc.:  Cambridge-based eCurv develops asynchronous regulation software algorithms designed to optimize  appliances’ peak and non-peak power use. The company was founded in 2011.

Provenance Biopharmaceuticals Corp.:  Provenance Biopharmaceuticals develops immunotherapeutics, based on identified cancer stem cells, to treat cancer. The Waltham company was founded in 2008.

SignaBlok Inc.:  Founded in 2009, Shrewsbury-based SignaBlok develops therapeutics for cancer, atherosclerosis, inflammatory and immune diseases through a novel cell signaling model.

X-Body Biosciences:  Founded in 2008, X-Bbody Biosciences, of Waltham, aims to discover and develop human antibodies to treat certain types of cancer and other diseases.
