Network equipment maker Acme Packet Inc. reports that its family of Net-Net enterprise session border controllers will become integrated into the Unified Communications (UC) Solutions Portfolio offered by Hewlett-Packard Co.
According to a release from Bedford-based Acme Packet (Nasdaq: APKT), adding the Net-Net product to HP’s offering gives it enhanced security, reliability and interoperability for HP’s technology that uses Internet Protocol to deliver real-time voice, video and UC. Acme Packets’ product’s ability to work with legacy IP telephony infrastructures was one reason cited by HP for the integration. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
Dino Di Palma, senior vice president of worldwide sales and business development, Acme Packet said in the release that the company’s E-SBC products support Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Microsoft, Polycom and other UC solutions.
In February, Acme Packets bought Newfound Communications Inc. of Lawrence for an undisclosed amount. Newfound was best known for its IP Call Recorder, software that can record any phone conversation on an IP-based phone system. In May, Acme Packet announced that it planned to hire 117 new employees in Massachusetts through the rest of the year while substantially expanding its headquarters facility, as the company continues its rapid growth. At the time, the company said that it plans to add approximately 110,000 square feet adjacent to its existing 151,000-square-foot building in Bedford.
