True to its word, daily deal service firm BuyWithMe has expanded, in this case buy acquiring Cambridge card-linked loyalty provider Edhance Inc., for undisclosed terms.
As part of the deal, however, Bjorn Larsen, founder and president of Edhance, has joined BuyWithMe under the title vice president of loyalty and card-linked offers. According to a release from BuyWithMe, buying Edhance gives the company’s merchant client the ability to “create voucher-free customized loyalty and rewards programs” tied to their daily deal offerings.
Both Edhance and BuyWithMe were founded in 2009 - Edhance in Cambridge, initially as a loyalty and rewards program for college students, and BuyWithMe in Boston, before co-locating its headquarters in New York as well in December of last year. BuyWith Me is backed by $21.5 million from Bain Capital Ventures of Boston and Matrix Partners of Waltham.
Earlier this month BuyWithMe CEO Jim Crowley talked about the company’s expansion plans, following its move to a larger office on Boylston Street at the beginning of the month to keep up with its rapid growth. At the time, Crowley said that BuyWithMe employed approximately 175 people in total.
In May, BuyWith Me had a pair of purchases. At the beginning of the month it acquired DealADayOnline of Chicago for undisclosed terms. Later that month it purchased San Francisco group buying site Groop Swoop for undisclosed terms.
