GenomeQuest Inc., a Westborough developer of sequence data management software for genome-based research, has partnered with Cambridge-based Pathogenica to research and develop treatments for infectious diseases.
No financial details of the partnership were disclosed.
GenomeQuest, which changed its name from GeneIT in 2007, specializes in whole genome, exome and microbiome analysis.
Pathogenica, a startup founded in 2009, develops technology for detecting the genomes of pathogens in human tissue.
The partnership is expected to aid researchers and pharmaceutical companies to conduct DNA sequencing of pathogens and human tissue, as they relate to human infectious diseases.
GenomeQuest announced in June that it had created a new role of health-care innovation officer and named Gerry Higgins to the position.
Privately held Pathogenica has a scientific advisory board consisting of Harvard Medical School’s George Church and Andrew Onderdonk, Stanford University’s Ronald Davis, Columbia University’s W. Ian Lipkin and the University of California’s Kun Zhang.
