Umber Systems Inc., a Concord network analytics company, has merged with Ground Truth, a mobile measurement firm based in Seattle, and the resulting entity has raised $8 million in new funding.
Newly christened Mobile Intelligence Solutions Inc. has tapped North Bridge Venture Partners, Steamboat Ventures, Voyager Capital, Emergence Capital and OPENAIR Equity Partners for the new funding round. Ed Anderson, managing partner at North Bridge Venture Partners, will join the board of directors at Mobile Intelligence Solutions.
The new company, however, will not be located in Seattle nor in Concord, but will have its official headquarters in New York, according to a press release. The company will operate as two divisions, according to officials – “a carrier analytics business that will operate under the Umber brand, and a syndicated mobile market intelligence business that will operate under the Ground Truth brand.”
Sterling Wilson of Ground Truth has been named the president and CEO of Mobile Intelligence Solutions. Asa Kalavade, founder and CTO of Umber, was named CTO and senior vice president of engineering. Kalavade was named a Mass High Tech Women to Watch honoree in 2007. Prior to launching Umber, Kalavade was the founder and CTO of Tatara Systems Inc. of Acton.
