Pegasystems finds new, larger Cambridge HQ to match growth

By Michelle Lang

Pegasystems Inc., a business process management software firm, is moving its corporate headquarters within Cambridge to accommodate the rapid growth that has seen the company add 350 employees in 2010 and open new facilities in the U.K., India, Japan and the Netherlands.

The new headquarters, to be located at One Rogers St. and One Charles Park in Cambridge, provides 40 percent more space than the company currently maintains. The company said in a news release that the new facility will support the growing staff, as well as provide training space.

Pegasystems (Nasdaq: PEGA) said it plans to have staff working in the new facility later in 2011. The company is looking to hire 290 more positions worldwide, per the news release.

The company develops its main product, the SmartBPM software suite, which runs in a browser-based environment and can operate in tandem with a company’s existing applications.

In August 2010, Pegasystems founder and CEO Alan Trefler told Mass High Tech that the company’s aggressive spending and growth has made Wall Street investors uneasy, but that the company’s opportunity to grow in the business process management space “is huge.”
