Siamak Taghaddos, co-founder and CEO, Grasshopper Group LLC
The Boston-based virtual phone service company Grasshopper Group LLC had an outage of its service beginning Tuesday afternoon, but as of midnight the service was still back up and functioning stably for "an hour," according to the company's own support site.
As of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the support site said that Grasshopper was still in the process of restoring all of its data from its "rebuilt storage system." At that time, the company stated it would be Thursday morning before virtual phone service would be restored, and did not anticipate another updatde to the status until 9 a.m. However, as of midnight the service had been restored, the status update blog said.
Grasshopper was founded in 2003 in Needham as GotVMail Communications LLC by CEO Siamak Taghaddos and CTO David Hauser. The company
changed its name to Grasshopper Group in May of 2009.
In the past few years, Grasshopper Group has been reinvesting its profits into developing new products not in the small to midsize business virtual phone market. Among those are Chargify, an online billing software for software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies, and Spreadable, an online customer referral service for generating sales leads that
launched last October.
