Gates helps to fund MIT's Liquid Metal Battery

MIT spinout Liquid Metal Battery, which is developing grid-scale battery technology designed to deal with the fluctuations supply associated with wind and solar power, has received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The company has its roots in the lab of MIT researcher Donald Sadoway. Seattle-based TechFlash and CNET have more details.
