GT Solar nabs $84M in more solar wafer orders

By Kyle Alspach

GT Solar International Inc. (Nasdaq: SOLR) said Monday it has signed new contracts worth $84.3 million for its solar wafer production equipment lines.

The Merrimack, N.H.-based company said it received the orders from both new and existing customers. Among the new customers are Nantong Zongyi New Material Co, Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Zhong Huan Solar Material Co., GT Solar said.

The orders are for the company’s DSS multicrystalline growth furnace, the company said.

GT Solar announced last week that it had received $91 million from three new orders for advanced sapphire crystallization furnaces, used in making solar cells.
