BuyWithMe acquires Chicago daily deals competitor

By Galen Moore

Boston group-buying contender BuyWithMe announced its second regional grab in as many months today, a company on category leader Groupon’s home turf in Chicago. BuyWithMe acquired DealADayOnline for undisclosed terms, it reported in a press release this morning.

In March, BuyWithMe announced it bought LocalTwist, a San Carlos, Calif.-based competitor, extending its San Francisco Bay area footprint.

The two-year-old company, backed by $21.5 million from Bain Capital Ventures of Boston and Matrix Partners of Waltham, is in contention with Groupon and Washington, D.C.-based LivingSocial for the biggest slices of a newly emerged and fast-growing appetite for social media-fueled coupons and daily deals.

BuyWithMe has dual headquarters in Boston and New York City.
