Teachers' social network BetterLesson lands $1M

By Michelle Lang

Cambridge startup BetterLesson Inc. has raised $1 million of a planned $2 million equity funding round, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company is focused on developing a web-based application intended to help educators network and share resources and ideas.

No investors were named in the regulatory filing, but it does list its two directors – Jordan Meranus, a partner for the NewSchools Venture Fund, and Vinay Mohta, chief technology officer at Kyruus.

BetterLesson, named a Mass High Tech Startup to Watch in 2009, was founded in 2008 by CEO Alex Grodd, a Teach for America alum.
