Next Step Living launches $2.75M round

By James M. Connolly

Residential energy efficiency company Next Step Living Inc. of Boston has brought in almost $1.5 million of a $2.75 million equity round, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The firm, based on Drydock Avenue in South Boston, offers home energy diagnostics and retrofits. Next Step Living had raised $2.6 million in a Series B round in August of 2010 and $830,000 in 2009. The latest filing didn’t identify which investors participated in this round.

The company was founded by CEO Geoff Chapin, and lists several well-known environmental figures and investors on its board, including John McQuillan, president and CEO of Triumvirate Environmental, Black Coral Capital partner Rob Day, and John DeVillars, who is managing partner with Blue Wave Strategies LLC and former New England regional administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

According to the SEC filing, Next Step Living has revenues in the range of $1 million to $5 million. The company says that it collaborates with major utilities, communities and employers to work with residential property owners to reduce their energy usage.
