Following on the heels of another Patriot missile-related contract on Tuesday, Raytheon Co. (NYSE: RTN) has announced a $128.5 million deal to provide engineering services to the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System.
The contract will bring work to several Raytheon IDS work sites, including its headquarters in Tewksbury; Andover’s Integrated Air Defense Center; the Warfighter Protection Center in Huntsville, Ala.; and the Mission Capability Verification Center in White Sands, N.M.
The $128.5 million contract from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, in Redstone Arsenal, Ala., includes Raytheon work in upgrading software and hardware, analyzing systems, and providing testing and logistics associated with the Patriot missiles.
On Tuesday, the defense giant reported it had won a $58.3 million contract for Patriot guidance missiles – also involving upgrades – for work to be performed by Tewksbury-based Raytheon IDS.
The 72,000-employee company has landed $11.9 million from the U.S. Army for Patriot missile components, per a Raytheon report from March 2010.
