Internship website aims to keep students in Massachusetts

By James M. Connolly

The Commonwealth Marketing Office, a Massachusetts state agency, today launched a website designed to advance the state’s effort to keep college students in Massachusetts after graduation from local colleges.

The Mass Stay Here Internship Site is a statewide internship resource highlighting internship opportunities. The site also is a vehicle that the state can use to message students about staying in the state. The site launched with more than 100 internship listings.

The site includes commentaries from leaders such as Zipcar Inc. CEO Scott Griffith and the Boston Celtics’ Ray Allen, and is powered by Experience.com.

Companies with Massachusetts-based internships are being invited to promote their internship opportunities on the site for free, and students will be able to search those posts.

The Mass Technology Leadership Council and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce are also creating internship sites on the same platform for their member companies, so internships posted to the MassTLC and Boston Chamber sites will appear on the Mass Stay Here Internships site.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story misidentified the nature of the Commonwealth Marketing Office. It is a Massachusetts state agency.
