Solectria Renewables LLC, a maker of solar power inverters, today planned to celebrate the expansion of its Lawrence facility to 40,000 square feet from 28,000 square feet.
The company has seen fast growth in demand for its inverters in recent years, as the solar industry trends toward larger-scale projects to feed the grid. Along with the facility expansion, CEO James Worden said the company’s staff has grown to 86, up from 18 three years ago.
Solectria planned a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Friday and expected attendance by U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas, state energy undersecretary Phil Giudice and other officials.
“Solectria’s expansion in Lawrence is creating clean energy jobs in our own backyard while promoting reliable, domestically produced sources of energy,” Tsongas said in a statement released by the company.
Projects using Solectria inverters have included a 394-kilowatt project at Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield.
