T2 Biosystems names Poss to new corporate development VP role

T2 Biosystems Inc. has appointed Kirt Poss as senior vice president of corporate development for the Lexington-based diagnostics developer. The position is a new role and will have Poss focused on expanding the company and growing corporate partnerships stemming from its magnetic biosensor diagnostic platforms.
Poss previously served as president and CEO of VisEn Medical Inc., a company he co-founded that was acquired by PerkinElmer Corp. in 2010. Before that, he consulted in the healthcare business for Kendall Strategies and served in scientific research roles at the Center for Molecular Imaging Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Poss earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
T2 Biosystems was founded in 2006 by scientists from MIT, Harvard University, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. The company has developed its NanoDx magnetic biosensor technology platform from which to create medical diagnostic products.
Last May, T2 Biosysems pulled in a $15 million Series C funding round from nine investors.
