Charlie Baker, the former Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate, has a new job, and it looks like it’s bound to impact some in the local tech community.
Baker has taken an Executive in Residence role at Cambridge venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners, according to an e-mail to his political supporters.
The former Harvard Pilgrim Health Care CEO reportedly cited interest in working with entrepreneurs, saying “I’d rather have a chance to work with and mentor the founders and management teams of smaller businesses – to help them take on their challenges, seek out new markets, and capture their dreams.” The e-mail also noted Baker’s plan to join the boards of a couple of Massachusetts small businesses, with a focus on healthcare.
Baker lost the governor’s race last November to Democratic incumbent Deval Patrick.
