Cloud storage and backup company TwinStrata Inc. has taken in $750,000 of a planned $1.95 million debt and equity options round, according to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
While the filing with the SE did not disclose by name the single funding entity involved in the round, it did note that two members of Avalon Ventures - Braden Bohrmann and Richard Levandov - are directors of the company. All told, the latest funding brings the total raised by TwinStrata since 2008 to nearly $6.25 million.
Avalon Ventures, based in Cambridge, participated in TwinStrata’s last round, when it raised $1 million in September, 2010. TwinStrata, based in Natick, offers its CloudArray cloud storage and backup products, based on the iSCSI format. The company lists as partners AT&T, EMC Corp. and Amazon Web Services.
TwinStrata co-founder Nicos Vekiarides was previously General Manager of the storage virtualization business at Hewlett-Packard Co.
