MedVentive appoints health-care IT vet as medical director
By Michelle Lang
Waltham health-care management software firm MedVentive Inc. has named Dan Underberger as vice president and medical director of the company.
Underberger previously co-founded Peminic Inc., a Missouri health-care IT process software firm that, according to MedVentive’s press release today, has the “single largest deployment of online incident reporting and compliance software in the U.S.” He also served as chief medical officer of the company.
MedVentive, which provides software products intended to improve care for patients, has seen its business expand in recent years from one customer in Boston to more than a dozen medical centers across the nation, company officials said in June 2009. The company raised a venture round in February 2010 from $4.9 million to $10 million.
The company was founded in 1997 by the CareGroup Healthcare Systems, a network of 4,500 physicians, eight hospitals and more than 450,000 patients. CareGroup is the parent of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
