Acme Packet Inc. (Nasdaq: APKT) has added a Dartmouth College professor to its board of directors, the company announced Thursday.
The Bedford-based telecommunications equipment maker said it would expand its board with the addition of Russell Muirhead, who holds an endowed professorship at Dartmouth. Muirhead has taught courses on ethics, the history of political thought and American politics at Dartmouth since 2009, Acme Packet said in the announcement.
Muirhead, who will serve as an independent director at Acme Packet, was also previously an associate professor in the department of government at the University of Texas at Austin from 2006 through 2009, and an associate professor at Harvard University in the department of government from 2002 through 2006. Muirhead began his academic career in 1996 as an assistant professor at Williams College, Acme Packet said.
“His insights on global politics and public policy will be invaluable as we expand the reach for our solutions within federal, state and local government,” company CEO Andrew Ory said in the announcement.
