Managed IT service firm mindSHIFT Technologies Inc. plans to expand its position in healthcare IT with the acquisition of a North Carolina company, the Waltham-based company said Wednesday.
Financial terms for mindSHIFT’s acquisition of Morrisville, N.C.-based Alpheon Corp. were not disclosed.
Alpheon was founded in 2002 and specializes in providing managed IT services to small and mid-size organizations, with a focus on the healthcare market, mindSHIFT said. The company offers services including remote infrastructure monitoring, management and maintenance, security services and Voice over IP (VoIP) technology.
In a statement, mindSHIFT CEO Paul Chisholm said the acquisition will allow mindSHIFT to better assist healthcare clients with managing patient data and internal resources.
To date, mindSHIFT has focused on providing managed IT services, with a focus on cloud computing, to legal firms, financial services companies, nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. The company has annual revenue of more than $100 million, according to a press release.
In the fall of 2009, mindSHIFT launched NextDesktop, which provides a hosted desktop-as-a-service starting at $40 a month per seat, aimed at small business.
