Constellation taps Eli Lilly vet for chief scientific post

Constellation Pharmaceuticals Inc. has named Eli Lilly and Company veteran James Audia as chief scientific officer of the Cambridge genome-focused drug developer.
At his previous workplace, Audia was named a Distinguished Lilly Scholar and held a prior role as executive director, Discovery Chemistry Research and Technologies. He is named as an inventor on more than 90 U.S. patents, according to a Constellation Pharmaceuticals news release today. He holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of South Carolina.
Constellation Pharmaceuticals develops therapeutics in epigenetics, the study of gene function and expression. The company was founded by scientists at Harvard Medical School, New York University School of Medicine and The Rockefeller University in New York.
In June 2010, Constellation pulled in a $22 million Series B financing round led by SR One, with additional participation from Third Rock Ventures, The Column Group, Venrock and Altitude Life Science Ventures.
