A new website that compiles all of the Massachusetts training programs available for clean energy and energy efficiency jobs is expected to launch next month.
The site, which will be located at cleanenergyeducation.org, is expected to include information on roughly 140 training programs and resources in the state. The New England Clean Energy Council has been working with the nonprofit Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership to develop the site, which is being funded in part through a $90,000 grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
The site is expected to launch in mid-January, said a spokesman for the Clean Energy Center. “This is something we have heard from other organizations that there’s a need for,” said Ed Londergan, project manager at the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership. “There’s nothing like this in the state yet.”
The site will include “everything from programs at community colleges to private colleges, private training institutions, grant-funded programs, community-based organizations,” Londergan said.
The site will be searchable in several ways, including by industry specialization and by academic program, he said. The site will also include information helpful in preparing for tests and certifications in the industry, Londergan said.
If more grant money becomes available from other states in New England, similar sites could be developed for the other states in the future, he said.
