Business-to-business sales data provider NetProspex has named Thomas C. Rauker as chief financial officer just two weeks after the Waltham company received a $5.5 million Series B round from Edison Venture Fund.
NetProspex calls itself a Data as a Service provider for B-to-B sales and marketing decision makers, helping them to generate leads.
Rauker brings 25 years of finance and management experience. He most recently was a strategic financial consultant for Dow Jones & Company following the May 2008 acquisition of Generate Inc. where he had served as CFO since 2005. He has been a partner at Rauker, Schienfedt & Company Inc., an accounting, tax and consulting service.
According to NetProspex, Rauker has helped companies raise more than $100 million in debt and equity funding, and has negotiated multi-million dollar strategic contracts with companies such as Lycos, CNet, D&B and Dow Jones.
After the Series B investment, Edison General Partner Michael Balmuth and Principal Ryan Ziegler discussed the growing New England presence of Edison Ventures (formerly Edison Venture Fund) in New England.
Edison was the sole institutional investor in the Series B round for NetProspex. American City Business Journals Inc. (ACBJ), a subsidiary of Advance Publications Inc., the parent company of the Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech, had backed NetProspex in its first round as a strategic investor. ACBJ did not return to participate in the round.
