

Technology market research firm Yankee Group has named Terry Waters as its president and CEO, filling in the role vacated by Emily Nagle Green who took over as chairman of the company.
Waters joins the firm having previously led financial analytics company Highline Financial as president and CEO. Prior to that, he worked as chief marketing officer of Gartner Inc., where he also served as president of the Executive Programs business unit. He also worked as chief operating officer of web aggregator Screaming Media.
The Boston-based firm noted in April that Green was looking to hire a CEO to manage internal operations while she focused on “evangelism and external market work.” At the time, Yankee Group also took in $10 million from its principal owner, Alta Communications, to expand staff, which the company did, adding more than a dozen new analysts.
Green has worked with Yankee Group since 2005 and has written the book “Anywhere” to address the impact of global connectivity.
Yankee Group was founded by Howard Anderson, now an MIT professor, in 1970. Over the years, it has provided market research in a range of IT and networking sectors, generally with an emphasis on communications fields. However, in the past three years, Green has narrowed the firm’s focus even more, concentrating on global connectivity,
