U-Launch has kicked off as a program intended to aid the transition of clean energy technology in university labs to startups with commercialized technology. The program is accepting applications from entrepreneurs to receive up to $100,000 to move their technology from universities into a startup setting.
U-Launch is to be administered by Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE), the New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC), the Association of Cleantech Incubators of New England (ACTION) and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC). The U.S. Department of Energy awarded a $1 million grant to the program, as one of five award winners to build “innovative ecosystems.”
In addition to funding, grant winners have access to Fraunhofer R&D labs, prototyping at NECEC executives-in-residence and the ACTION incubators. U-Launch also aids in venture capital partner access and the Investments in Clean Technology division at MassCEC.
U-Launch applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with initial winners receiving grants early nest year. Read more about the U-Launch program and grants.
