Idera Pharmaceuticals Inc. has changed up its board following the retirement of James Wyngaarden from the Cambridge autoimmune disease treatment firm. As a result, Sudhir Agrawal will take the role of chairman of the board of directors and William Reardon has been named lead director.
Wyngaarden served as chairman of the board of directors for 10 years.
Agrawal, who also serves as president and CEO of the company, previously had the added role of chief scientific officer. He has worked at Idera for 20 years.
Reardon, an Idera board member since 2002, has worked with the life sciences sector in various roles, including audit partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP – where he worked with public life sciences companies – and as a board member of Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp., as well as a board trustee of H&Q Healthcare Investors and H&Q Life Sciences Investors.
Idera Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: IDRA) develops drugs to treat such autoimmune diseases as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
The company announced in August that it was raising $15 million in a registered direct offering the Cambridge biotech made with investors.
