Tetraphase appoints former Sirtris exec Bohlin to board

Watertown biotechnology firm Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed a new member to its board of directors. Garen Bohlin, current executive vice president of Constellation Pharmaceuticals, has joined the board.
Bohlin’s career history recently included a role as chief operating officer of Sirtris Pharmaceuticals Inc., managing Sirtris’ initial public offering and its sale for more than $700 million to GlaxoSmithKline. Before working for Sirtris, he was the founding CEO of Syntonix Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Biogen Idec Inc. in 2007. he also served in several executive positions at Genetics Institute, which was sold to American Home Products (Wyeth).
Founded in 2006, Tetraphase develops antibiotic drug candidates for drug-resistant infection treatments using synthetic chemistry. Its founding team includes David Lubner, chief operating officer, formerly of IMS Health/PharMetrics and ProScript; board director Lawrence Miller, a partner at Mediphase Venture Partners; Doug Cole of Flagship Ventures; Eric Gordon, Mediphase and Skyline Ventures, among others.
Tetraphase pulled in a $45 million Series C round of financing, led by Excel Venture Management, in June.
