
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has awarded a total of $1 million to four Bay State companies and organizations for the development of innovative business models around energy efficiency.
The new business models aim to help Massachusetts consumers and businesses “make the most of their opportunities to save energy and money through energy efficiency investments,” the center said in its announcement.
The Clean Energy Center awarded $250,000 to the following companies and organizations:
iBLogix Inc., Lexington
The company, which provides building energy intelligence tools, plans to use the grant funds to achieve product development, energy assessment trial and revenue milestones and to hire new personnel.
Synergy Construction LLC, Lancaster
Synergy, a construction firm specializing in the integration of energy efficiency measures, plans to use the funds for training, equipment investments and marketing and outreach in order to achieve scale and reduce costs to the consumer.
Next Step Living Inc., Boston
Next Step Living, a residential energy efficiency company, will use the grant funds to support its continued expansion of its core business in Massachusetts, along with its efforts to promote deeper energy savings measures.
The National Institute for a Sustainable Economy (NISE), Boston
The institute’s business model, coupled with a highly intelligent energy management system, aims to provide a “one-stop-shop” for homeowners to reduce their energy consumption by 20 percent or more. The organization plans to use the funds to support its ramp-up plan in order to implement energy efficiency measures in over 100,000 homes in Massachusetts.
