Mobile and iPhone application developer Apperian Inc. today announced that David Patrick, formerly CEO of database virtualization company xkoto, has joined Apperian as CEO.
Boston-based Apperian provides business-to-consumer and business-to-employee applications for the iPhone and other mobile devices. The company said that founder and CEO Chuck Goldman will remain with Apperian as chief strategy officer, focusing on business development and growth of the professional services team.
Prior to xkoto, which was acquired by Teradata, Patrick was vice president and general manager at Novell Inc., where he managed the SUSE Linux and Netware operating system lines. He joined Novell in 2003, as part of the acquisition of Ximian, where he was president and CEO. He also served in senior roles with The Learning Company, Mattel, WordStar, Sun Microsystems, Ashton-Tate and Lotus.
Earlier this year, Apperian bought DS Media Labs, a Florida app development studio, for an undisclosed amount, giving Apperian access to additional mobile platforms.
