LED lighting firm Luminus Devices Inc. has named Walter Shephard as chief financial officer of the company.
Shephard previously served as CFO of Zygo Corp., an optical metrology instruments firm in Middlefield, Conn. Before that, he was vice president and CFO of GenRad Inc., a Westford firm acquired by Teradyne in 2001. Shephard graduated with an MBA degree from Babson College and a bachelor of science in finance degree from Boston College.
In his new role, Shephard will be responsible for administrative, global finance, legal and IT operations, in addition to improving employee productivity and lowering operational costs, the company noted in a press release.
Luminus makes PhlatLight LEDs – solid-state light sources – for projection displays, industrial signage and UV curing. It maintains its corporate offices and engineering, assembly and test operations in Billerica and its semiconductor foundry in Woburn.
In June, Luminus announced that a new partnership with Connecticut manufacturer ABS Lighting expanded Luminus’ applications into roadway lighting, including underpasses and highway tunnels.
