Software play Breuer & Co. signs up for Edgewater space

Hobbs Brook Management LLC has signed a seven-year, four-month lease with Breuer & Co. LLC. The software firm will occupy 13,595 square feet at 701 Edgewater Drive in Wakefield. Breuer & Co. provides software and services to private schools and health-care organizations. The new space at 701 Edgewater Drive enables the firm to expand its operations into Class A office space. Due to an expiring lease and Hobbs Brook Management’s reputation, the firm chose the space at 701 Edgewater Drive, allowing for expanded operations capacity by 100 percent. The interior architect is Studio Troika of Malden, and the contractor is Majestic Construction Inc. of North Attleboro. Chip Batchelder of Wyman Street Advisors handled the lease for Hobbs Brook Management. Michael O’Leary of FHO Partners represented Breuer & Co.
 


SofTech seals up renewal at Connector Park in Lowell

CB Richard Ellis/New England has completed a 9,800 square foot lease renewal with SofTech Inc. at 59 Lowes Way in Lowell. SofTech, a multinational computer software company, will remain on the third floor of the property, a 102,653 square foot Class B office building part of Connector Park. The CBRE team of executive vice president/partner Mark Reardon, first vice president Jason Levendusky and vice president Kerry Olson represented landlord National Development in the renewal. National Development is one of the largest owners/developers in New England with 25 years in the industry and 15 million square feet of development experience. Richards Barry Joyce and Partners’ Jamey Lipscomb represented SofTech. Connector Park is a two-building, 206,417 square foot office and R&D complex located off the Lowell Connector and Route 3 in Lowell. 
 


Nanotech

NAI Hunneman brokers space for trio of nanotech firms

NAI Hunneman’s Suburban Leasing Group has brokered 45,000 square feet office leases to three nanotechnology companies: Nantero Inc., QD Vision, and NanoLab. Nantero, which is using carbon nanotubes for the development of semiconductor devices, renewed its 13,998-square-foot lease at 25 Olympia Ave. in Woburn. NAI Hunneman represented the tenant. Mark Knittle of Cummings Properties represented the landlord, Woburn-based Cummings Properties. QD Vision, a developer of Quantum Light products for solid state lighting and displays, renewed its 24,798-square-foot office lease at 313 Pleasant St. in Watertown. NAI Hunneman  represented the tenant. John Nealon of W.I. Nealon Commercial represented the landlord. NanoLab, a designer, developer and manufacturer of nanoscale materials and devices, signed a new lease of 6,000 square feet at 179 Bear Hill Road in Waltham. The firm is relocating from Newton. NAI Hunneman represented the tenant. John Dolan of Meredith & Grew represented the landlord, SPS Inc.

Energy

Airxchange calls on Campanelli for addition at Rockland HQ

Energy recovery ventilation firm Airxchange Inc. broke ground on a $4 million, 61,000-square-foot addition to its facility in Rockland. In addition to providing design, build and engineering services, Campanelli Cos. has assisted in permitting for the project. The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2011. The addition will be used for manufacturing and warehouse space, and will nearly triple the size of the facility, which also serves as the company’s corporate office.

Avid Technologies moves to Burlington

Nordblom Co. and Nordic Properties assisted Avid Technologies Inc., a provider of audio and video production solutions, with the opening of its new headquarters on Network Drive at Northwest Park in Burlington. Avid, formerly in Tewksbury, leased 203,000 square feet for a 10-year term. Brian Hines and Mike Dalton of FHO Partners represented Avid. Jones Lang LaSalle managing director Tamie Thompson, executive vice president Dan Cordeau, and assistant vice president Dan Kollar represented Nordblom. Adele Olivier and Todd Fremont-Smith managed the deal from the ownership. Gensler Associates and RDK Engineers provided tenant architectural and design services and Erland Construction was the general contractor on the project.
