Computer and information technology products retailer PC Connection Inc. reported the second largest quarterly sales level in the Merrimack, N.H., company’s history. Revenue for the quarter was $477.5 million, up 26.6 percent from the $377.7 million in Q2 2009.
That led the company to a profit of $5 million for the second quarter of 2010, turning around the $6.46 million loss PC Connection (Nasdaq: PCCC) reported for the same time frame last year. Leading the Q2 2010 sales was notebooks and PDAs, with $86.15 million, but the next three -- desktops/servers, software, and video, imaging and sound -- were not far off.
PC Connections’ top five market sectors -- the four mentioned above, along with net/com products -- all posted double digit percentage gains in sales in the second quarter over 2009.
In January, PC Connection launched a new sales company, PC Connection Express Inc., based in Portsmouth, N.H., and focusing on the consumer and small office/home office (“SOHO”) markets. All told the company’s divisions include PC Connection Sales Corp., MoreDirect Inc., GovConnection Inc., and PC Connection Express.
