Caliper Life Sciences hit with IP lawsuit

By Michelle Lang

Caliper Life Sciences has been sued for patent infringement by Carestream Health Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin Madison Division, according to a news release from Carestream.

The lawsuit alleges that the IVIS Lumina XR System from Caliper, a Hopkinton-based provider of tools and services for drug discovery, infringes on Carestream Health’s patent on multimodal in-vivo imaging.

Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream Health notes on its website that it provides “medical and dental imaging systems and information technology solutions; molecular imaging systems; and non-destructive testing products.”

Caliper has 30 days to respond in court.

Caliper announced in May that it will sell two product lines to Sweden-based Biotage AB for $16.5 million in cash and $500,000 in liabilities.
