Drug detection firm Psychemedics signs deal with UK firm

By Michelle Lang

Acton-based Psychemedics Corp., a substance abuse screening firm, has signed a deal with U.K.-based LGC Ltd., granting the British analytical and diagnostic services firm sales and marketing responsibilities in the U.K. and Europe for Psychemedics’ hair analysis drug test.

Psychemedics’ patented hair test is designed to detect drug use over a period of months and is more difficult to trick through masking or substitution than standard urine or saliva-based tests, officials have said.

LGC develops analytical, forensic and diagnostic services and reference standards. The company has customers in such industries as forensic science, life sciences, food chain and environmental surveillance and safety, and pharmaceuticals.
